Edit and PCTV Systems - European Football driven by OPTA data
Edit have worked alongside PCTV Systems to develop a unique application that can be bundled with PCTV's hugely successful tuner cards that allow users to watch television via their computers.
The project involves creating interactive football content by using Edit’s icon based video navigation technology to syncronise a match specific OPTA sports data file against football matches that users record using their PCTV cards.
This specific desktop application of the Edit video solution creates the ability for users to record matches onto their computers and instantly create their own video library of football highlights. This allows them to build up a library of their favourite matches, search across their library to view events, navigate and play using the Edit media player, which brings an end to the use of fast forward and rewind and chapters.
Users are able to search on any aspect of their library that they wish; searching by player, by event, by team and any multiple combination of these. Edit and PCTV Systems are initially using the German Budesliga and German Champions League coverage to make the application available to users in the Czech Republic and Germany, before rolling out the bundle worldwide to over 4 million users early in 2009.
This means that matches recorded in any of the major European leagues including the English Premiership, Serie A, La Liga and the Bundesliga can be syncronised to create a completely personalised and interactive user experience.
